The Idea Behind OK Topic

The Internet has gone nutty, and that’s not OK. There’re millions of pages containing repeated, copied, rephrased, rehashed, and duplicated content everywhere with no escape! People often find themselves discovering a great piece of information, but have to supplement it with information from another web page. This needs to stop.

Now imagine a website where only one article is written to cover a specific topic, and updated when new information is available without publishing a new separate article. No longer will you have to update your bookmarks or perform a new search to find recent and updated information. Add onto that, a blog that takes requests for updated information, and you have the greatest resource available without having to dig through millions of pages on popular search engines. All the work is already done.

This is OK Topic, a blog I’m building in hopes that what I know, and learn, will eventually help someone else with the desire to learn all there is with doing business on The Internet.

Who Should Read OK Topic

This blog is not going to be for everyone. Do you just browse the web? Are you a casual browser with no real Internet related business interests? Don’t like social media? OK Topic will have very little to offer you. However, the following groups of people will find OK Topic to be full of useful information.

  • People that love to participate on social networks.
  • Webmasters that want to improve the quality of their websites.
  • Developers that want to adhere to strict quality guidelines.
  • Web hosts that want to give their customers the most out of their infrastructure.
  • Everyone who has a website or an online presence in some shape or form.

Over time, OK Topic will expand to cover a wider range of audiences, but for now I’d like to keep the scope small and build some authority on the topics I talk about.

What topics will OK Topic cover

Most posts I publish on the website in the beginning will have a strong focus on marketing, social media, and building a real presence online. I’ll also be touching base on web security. I’m considering more areas to write about, but I’d like to keep the range of topics small early on and build an audience. As I learn what my readers are interested in, I’ll expand on what topics to talk about.

Predominantly, I intend to cover such topics as,

  • Real Google Webmaster guidelines and help.
  • Why almost every desperate blogger is wrong on marketing.
  • Help for startup web hosts and a plethora of resources.
  • How to use social media the right way.
  • Security guides to cut down the risks that result in getting hacked.

And of course, many more.

My Pledges to All Readers

Weekly Post: The goal here is to publish at minimum one post per week. There will always be a new post on Friday to give readers time to absorb information over the weekend. Over the course of OK Topic’s life, this number will gradually increase to 2~3 per week, up to once per day, and eventually several posts per day when I hire brilliant writers who love the fields they’re in.

Anti-Duplicity Pledge: I will never cover the same subject numerous times. Many bloggers talk about how to get followers for Twitter or likes on Facebook, and end up writing dozens of articles on how to do so. I will cover the subject once, and update the existing post with more information as I learn. I feel that bloggers have created an unhealthy storm of content that’s driving readers into a state of confusion, and that’s the problem on The Internet. By posting numerous articles with identical information, they’re not helping readers. They’re sending them on a wild goose chase, and flooding Google with too many search results. I don’t agree with that.

These results are nuts. I’ve searched for these phrases during May of 2018 and this is what I get. Maybe Google is indexing the same pages numerous times, or maybe The Internet is just bloated with too much rehashed, repeated content.

It’s overwhelming, especially for anyone just starting out and learning a new Internet trade. This blog will only add 1 to that number. I will mention though that Google has come a long way, and before these numbers used to be 20 times higher (hundreds of millions).

There will be one exception to this rule. Topics that have an expiration. Assuming I write about The Best Ecommerce Templates of 2018, there’s no way I can update such posts after a certain time frame. For that reason, these topics will be appended with a date.

A Pledge To Educate & Learn: By the end of every article I publish, you will learn something new. If you already know all that I’ve written, then I would love to learn something new from you. Comment and share your experiences so that we can teach each other. Knowledge is the greatest resource that can be shared without expense.

I don’t know all there is about marketing and SEO. The web is changing everyday, and new information manifests itself everywhere. Let’s exchange ideas on this two lane highway, and I’ll be sure to credit you with teaching me a new trick or two.

A Pledge To Add More Pledges: More to come!

And So, We Begin. And Learn.

I hope the experience I’ve accumulated throughout my 20 years of experience in this field helps someone. I’m not building this resource to get rich quick, I’m setting foot into new grounds so that I can do two things which I enjoy very much. First, to learn new things through research that could help me throughout my career, and second, to teach others the knowledge I’ve accrued so that in return, it helps them do better in a more challenging web.

Also, this blog will serve as an excellent replacement for the many thousands of notepad files I’ve accumulated over the years.
